I went running today. Only for 20 minutes, but the air was cool, the sky was grey and purple with rain clouds, and the cottonwoods alongside the trail were rustling in the breeze. For those 20 minutes and a little more (as I stretched and started the drive home through farm country with my windows rolled down), the empty feeling in my core disappeared. For that short time, life didn’t feel like a struggle.
I seriously need to work out more often.
